Recommended Order for Setting Up Initial Key Manager System Components
This section provides tips for setting up a Key Manager system from scratch. We recommend that you read this section if this is your first time setting up a Key Manager system.
A Key Manager Server can provide both backend: and frontend: services. However, for production environments we recommend that you dedicate each Key Manager Server to only run one of the mentioned services.
Key Manager back ends and Key Manager front ends must be able to connect to the remote database. Additionally, a Key Manager license must be imported to the system before backend: service can be started. Due to these dependencies, the initial system components should be set up in the following order:
-
The Key Manager Database.
-
The initial Key Manager front end.
-
The initial Key Manager back end.
The above components constitute a minimal Key Manager deployment. After the initial system components have been set up, additional back ends and front ends can be added to increase system performance. Additional back ends and front ends can be set up in an arbitrary order.
