Preparing for Installation

Check and execute the following steps before starting the installation:

  • Key Manager Servers are automatically installed with a Key Manager clients when Key Manager Server packages are installed. The Key Manager clients installed on Key Manager Servers can be used for evaluation purposes. In production environments, console access to Key Manager Servers should be reserved for maintenance purposes only, and we recommend setting up and using Key Manager clients on machines other than Key Manager Servers.

  • For command-line client setup, determine whether you will use an API token or SSL certificates for client authentication. Both options offer the same functionality, though the API token may be somewhat easier to set up. Regardless of the chosen authentication mode, you will need to obtain the root-CA certificate of your Key Manager front end.   • The user account that is used for running the API client must use an UTF-8 locale (such as C.UTF-8).
