Directory Combinations

This section lists possible directory usage scenarios, and some notes on how Key Manager handles them.

Directory users with NFS home directories

Script-based scan is recommended for this situation, since using shell-based scan can lead to the issues detailed in Issues with Handling Shared Home Directories.

Directory users with local home directories for service accounts

Local accounts with local directories

Local accounts with NFS home directories

This scenario is not supported by Key Manager. The keys' locations will be recognized as shared, but key actions will follow the same path as when directory users are involved, which will lead to issues detailed in Issues with Handling Shared Home Directories.
