Deploying SSH Configurations to Hosts

Configurations must be assigned and deployed to hosts for them to take effect. Note that the configuration must be in the managed state before it can be assigned, and the hosts must be in the managed state before you can deploy configurations to them.

  1. By default, SSH configurations are assigned to the hosts from which they were found. If you want, you can assign additional hosts to a configuration. To do this, select a configuration, then click Assign. Specify the hosts you want to assign the current configuration to.

  2. Next select Deploy from the action menu to deploy the configuration to all the assigned hosts.

Key Manager launches jobs to update the hosts to their newly deployed configuration. The new configurations will take effect on the hosts once the jobs have finished successfully.

    note

Each SSH product on a host may only be assigned to one configuration at any time. When you assign a product on the host to a new configuration, the product is unassigned from its previous configuration.

New configurations will only take effect if there are no errors in them. When a new configuration is deployed, Key Manager tests its validity by attempting to restart the affected SSH product, and by attempting to establish a new management connection. A configuration is deemed faulty if either of the tests fails. In such cases, Key Manager reverts the hosts to their most recent working configuration.
