Configuring Automatic Email Alerts
Key Manager can be configured to automatically send email alerts of suspicious or otherwise critical actions.
Prerequisites for Email Alerts
This functionality requires that you have set up a email server for use with Key Manager. Provide your email server information on the Settings→General page, under the Email server settings page.
Configuring Email Alerts
Email alert settings are located on the Settings→Alerts page. You can configure:
-
The email addresses to which the alerts are to be sent to.
-
The alert level for various events. This affects what (if any) recipients receive emails for that type of alert.
Email addresses for receiving critical and non-critical alerts are to be given separately. If you have multiple addresses, separate them with spaces.
An email address can be added to multiple recipient lists.
The severity of each type of action can be configured separately. Each type of action can be configured with one of the following severity levels:
-
Log only: This level is appropriate for events that are deemed normal. Events with this severity level do not generate email alerts.
-
Send non-critical alert email: This level can be set for events that are not dangerous, but may be unusual. Events with this severity level generate email alerts for all recipients of non-critical alerts.
-
Send critical alert mail: This level should be set for events that may compromise the security of your network environment. Events with this severity level generate email alerts that are sent to all the recipients of critical alerts.
